JACQUI DANKWORTH
JOINS MUSIC FOR ALL SEASONS
BOARD OF ADVISORS
Brilliant jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth has joined the Music For All Seasons Board of Advisors. The news was announced last week, following her acclaimed appearance in MFAS’s benefit event honoring the music of Marvin Hamlisch. Dankworth performed a musical tribute to Hamlisch at the Russian Tea Room event, “from Belarus to Broadway—celebrating MUSIC!” This was Dankworth’s second featured appearance at a Music For All Seasons event.
Jacqui Dankworth began her professional career as an actress with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. She began working in musicals and quickly developed a career as a singing and recording artist in her own right. Her performances have taken her worldwide, singing jazz, the music of Gershwin, and collaborating with leading composers. In 2002 Jacqui formed the three-part harmony group The Passion, with two other great singers Liane Carroll and Sara Colman. The truly unique group released an album called One Good Reason that features the individual and combined talent of three of the top vocalists/lyricists in Britain. Her 2004 release of Detour Ahead confirmed Jacqui as “one of the finest singers of her generation”. In 2003 Jacqui appeared as herself in the film ‘Shoreditch’ starring Joely Richardson and Shane Ritchie. Jacqui opens the feature singing the classic Billie Holiday number “My Man” and later sings “Body and Soul” as a featured track. Her album Back To You was released to great critical acclaim in the Summer of 2009.
Jacqui is just finishing an album she recorded with her late father, Sir John Dankworth. It will be released in the fall of 2010. Jacqui appeared with her parents, Dame Cleo Laine and the late Sir John Dankworth at an MFAS benefit in 2002. Dame Cleo has been a member of the Board of Advisors since 2002. Sir John joined the Board in 2002 and remained with MFAS until his death in February, 2010.

Music For All Seasons is proud to welcome
